Land Acquisition & Purchase

We are always looking for land in the Pacific Northwest that meet our criteria for development...We look for property with city or water views, transit friendly locations, popular neighborhoods, and much more. We work with talented real estate agents who are always on the look out for good opportunities to pass our way.

Design and Site Planning

This is the step where all the details get ironed out...meetings with the architect to discuss placement of the home or apartment building on the site, design elements, features, and landscaping are all addressed in a thoughtful and intentional way to create a home that fits on each unique site.

Groundbreaking & Site Work

An exciting time for the construction team - demolition, excavation, and utility connections set the stage to put the foundation in the ground. This prep work is critical to the success of the build as it sets the stage for the rest of the project.

Going vertical is another big milestone for the entire team - seeing the walls go up and the roof go on, gives us a visual of what the building will look like at completion. After the walls are up we engage the mechanical trades to install the systems of the build.... from that point the drywall team seals it up and the finish trades complete the job and make it a home."

Home Sale & Apartment Leasing

No doubt, this phase is the culmination of a lot of hard work and thoughtful planning. At Build Urban we work with dedicated real estate and leasing professionals to get our homes sold and our apartments leased up. Homes are staged, professional photos are taken, and the For Sale sign goes in the yard!

President Development
Edson Gallaudet

Edson GallaudetBorn and raised outside Detroit, MI, Ed graduated from the University of Colorado. Ed moved to Seattle in 1993 with his wife, Julie. Before Build Urban he gained relevant experience in mortgage banking, construction financing, commercial and retail development, land acquisition, and infill development. He began building with a small Tacoma remodel then moved from new single-family homes to larger homes, townhouses, row homes, and apartment buildings.

Ed loves to see a project go from raw land to completed structure. His excitement for work comes from all the human interactions that happen throughout building homes and our company. Building people a better place to live brings him a great sense of accomplishment.

Outside of development, Ed enjoys spending time with Julie and their four kids – skiing, golf, hunting, cooking, traveling. Time with family and friends can’t be beaten.

Vice President Finance

MartinaMartina was born in Slovakia in a small village at the base of the Low Tatras mountain range. She moved to Seattle in 1999 with the intention to stay for one year. She fell in love with the people and mountains of the Pacific Northwest and came to the realization that she had no intention of leaving.

Martina brings a breadth of knowledge to her position at Build Urban. With a B.A. in marketing and a Master’s in finance under her belt she recently earned a certificate in commercial real estate from the UW. Working for a company that cares about sustainability and learning about the challenges of growing a business along the way is what keeps Martina involved.
