Alex Gómez is Co-Founder and CEO of New Wave Endo-Surgery Inc. He was born in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico and moved as a child to Amherst, Massachusetts where he developed his strong work ethic helping run the family restaurant. He began his surgical career as a Surgical Tech in Broward General Hospital and then attended Cornell Medical School, where he also served as President of his class. He received his BA from the University of Massachusetts and his MBA from Florida International University. Alex was the founder of New Wave Surgical Corp., which was listed in INC Magazine as one of “America’s Fastest Growing Private Companies” and the “#1 Fastest Growing Surgical Device Company for 2014”. He has over 15 patents issued and is the inventor of what was originally known as the Advanced Laparoscopic Care Kit featuring D-HELP, now sold as the Clearify™ Visualization System. By 2014, D-HELP was used worldwide in over 1 million surgeries and New Wave Surgical was sold to Covidien/Medtronic.
Dr. Sandy Heck is Co-Founder/CTO of New Wave Endo. Previously, he was the Chief Technology Officer of New Wave Surgical, where he helped build the company from its origins in a medical school dorm room into a medical device company with products that have been used in millions of procedures around the world. Dr. Heck received his BA in Human Biology from Stanford University, his MD degree with honors from Weill Cornell Medical College, and did his Surgical Residency Training at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Cornell. Dr. Heck is an inventor on multiple issued and pending patents, and oversees the Engineering, Quality and Intellectual Property efforts at New Wave Endo.
Andy serves as Executive Chairman at New Wave Endo and is Chairman and CEO of Mark Properties and general partner of a number of real estate investment entities, Andy formulates the operating and leasing strategy for a substantial portfolio of properties. Andy has been involved in the real estate industry for more than thirty years. Prior to the formation of the company in 1987, Andy was a Professor of Law at Rutgers School of Law, a practicing attorney, President and CEO of Kerr Concrete Pipe Co., and President and CEO of Galesi Realty Corp. Mr. Widmark was also a professor of the Practice of Real Estate at Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. After his honorable discharge from the USMC, Andy earned a BS at Farleigh Dickinson University, an MBA from the Wharton School of Business, and JD at Rutgers School of Law. Prior to New Wave Endo, Andy was Chairman of the Board of New Wave Surgical Corp. where he guided the company towards its $115M acquisition.
