Space Operations, Inc. (SpaceOps) is an early stage startup aerospace company. SpaceOps was established to provide a commercial crew orbital launch capability in the U.S. We will build and qualify a 2-seat spacecraft based on NASA's Gemini.

Founded in Dec. of 2013 as a "C" Corporation, SpaceOps has been in the planning stage since 2006. Once the planning for developing the spacecraft was complete, and the feasibility of the methodology and concept proven, the founder officially incorporated the Company. The Company is privately held by a group of investors/shareholders, officers and Board of Directors. SpaceOps is a professional spacecraft production company providing support to government agencies, major corporations, satellite manufacturers, and other users with a requirement for orbital space missions. The 2-seat ECLIPSE spacecraft is a "hybrid" that will take 2 people AND 20,000 lbs. additional payload to orbit. Other spacecraft under development, will carry either crew OR cargo. This hybrid approach will allow a multi-mission capability that is not possible with other spacecraft. The ECLIPSE allows: satellite servicing/deployment, orbital debris cleanup, new space station construction, space tourism and other missions that would require EVA. The ECLIPSE is also the only crew spacecraft that has 2 launch escape systems and one for landing. The vehicle will be recovered on land but could land in water if necessary. The Company will utilize previous flight rated and proven technologies to form the basis for manufacturing spacecraft vehicles, and will incorporate the latest up-to-date modern avionics and flight systems to ensure safety, reliability, and economical operation. Research and development for a new spacecraft account for up to 90% of the cost and time for construction. The original production drawings have already been converted into the CAD format allowing much faster construction than in the past. Integration will take place here in Huntsville, AL. that has an aerospace workforce second to none. Finally, the Gemini spacecraft has already had 13 successful missions, 3 unmanned and 10 with NASA astronauts. Once fully funded we expect the ECLIPSE will be ready to launch in 13 months

ECLIPSE is a 2-seat orbital spacecraft

The ECLIPSE is based on NASA's Gemini spacecraft, but will have upgraded systems and carry an additional 20,000 lb. payload. This "hybrid" approach allows a multi-mission capability far greater than vehicles currently under development from other companies.

ECLIPSE spacecraft capability

The ECLIPSE was designed for EVA. This allows the crew to do actual work in space. For example, the ECLIPSE could be used to build new space stations. Although satellite servicing/repair, debris removal, and space tourism are missions that may be performed, other missions are possible. These other missions will be flown in accordance with customer requirements.

President Chairman
Byron Russell

Byron RussellOriginal founder and President of Americans in Orbit-50 years, a non profit education organization with the mission of restoring access to orbit for universities to enable student payloads to be launched on a regular basis. He created and implemented the International Space Science Education Program and partnered with the University of Alabama , allowing students to have hands on experience with several project since CY2009. He flew as a pilot for the USAF until 1981, and was dual qualified in both the KC-135 and the T-38. After leaving the Air Force, he flew corporate aircraft for companies, and flew commercial aircraft for major air lines. He has accumulated over 9000 hours flying time in various aircraft from the B-767 to small seaplanes. He has excellent working knowledge of aircraft and spacecraft systems and operations.,and has been a life long advocate of space exploration.
