Alexander OraevskyDr. Alexander A. Oraevsky has over 25 years of experience managing R&D laboratories in academia and small businesses. Alexander obtained a doctorate in laser spectroscopy and laser biophysics from the USSR Academy of Sciences. In 1992, as Whitaker Fellow, he joined the faculty at Rice University. Prior to foundation of TomoWave Laboratories in 2010, he served as Vice-President of Research and Development for Fairway Medical Technologies, was the Director of the Optoacoustic imaging and Spectroscopy Laboratory at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Dr. Oraevsky is the recipient of multiple research awards advancing biomedical applications of the optoacoustic imaging sensing and monitoring, including Berthold Leibinger Innovations Prize 2014. Alexander is the primary inventor of 21 patents, has published seven book chapters and over 200 highly cited scientific papers, and he is referred to as the Father of biomedical optoacoustic imaging.

Over $6 Million in NIH grants (no equity dilution) invested in TomoWave technology. These grants endorsed and validated TomoWave technology and were used to develop four systems for biomedical imaging applications: (i) commercial laser optoacoustic imaging system (LOIS-3D) for preclinical research in mouse models of disease, (ii) clinical Laser Optoacoustic Ultrasonic Imaging System Assembly (LOUISA-3D) for screening of breast cancer in patients with dense breast and younger women as well as for assessment of efficacy of neoadjuvant chemotherapy of breast cancer, (iii) Laser Optoacoustic Ultrasonic System (LOUIS-2D) for image guided biopsy, image guided drug delivery and diagnostics of peripheral vascular diseases; (iv) Laser Optoacoustic Ultrasonic Imaging System with capability of real time temperature mapping (LOUIS-TIm) designed for image guided cryotherapy and HIFU therapy of prostate cancer.
