Deal Flow

The rate at which new proposals are made to a funding firm. Deal flow is also used to indicate the general feeling of how often a firm receives new offers. The term is used almost exclusively in venture capital, and not in banking. Some venture capitalists, notably Bill Burnham, have criticized the concept, believing that venture capital firms should seek out potential deals rather than allow the proposals to come to them.
